Making-Of – Côte d’Azur

Days full of rain, cold winds, the first signs of the upcoming winter. The weather was not too good when we left our homes in Germany and Switzerland in mid-November for the South of France. My brother was commissioned by ALPINA to shoot the all-new B7 Biturbo – the brand’s latest high-performance addition to their product range – at various locations on the Côte d‘Azur.
Europe never fails to surprise and it took us just over five hours to leave the dull Central European sky behind and reach the Mediterranean Sea. The region is always worth a visit, but its late autumnal sunsets are beyond comparison.
We shot on three days at four different locations – each with its unique atmosphere, challenges and opportunities. Here is a look behind the scenes. First Day

Lush vegetation, breathtaking views on the Mediterranean Sea and an underground garage that could as well be the showroom of a local luxury car dealer. Southern European decadence would be a legit description for the opulent setting that welcomed us at a mansion near Grasse.

Second Day

The second day started just in front of our wonderful holiday house somewhere in the laid-back suburbs of Grasse and ended on a solitary road in the mountains outside of Monaco.

Third Day

Even if one hasn’t seen the movies: One can easily imagine the likes of Daniel Craig or Sean Connery racing down the picturesque mountain road in the back country of Monaco. And indeed: It was 1995 when Pierce Brosnan got chased by Famke Janssen in her Ferrari F355 GTS. Golden Eye might not be one of the highlights within the long history of James Bond movies – its locations are among the best though.
